LEMMY (LEMMY KILMISTER)

Lemmy  (born Ian Fraser Kilmister; 24 December 1945) is an English rock musician.  He is best known as the lead vocalist, bassist, principal songwriter, and the founding and sole constant member of the rock and roll band Motörhead as well as a former member of Hawkwind.  He is also known for his appearance, including his friendly mutton chops, prominent facial moles, and gravelly voice.  (More from Wikipedia)

The most prominent post on Phil and the Frantics is a really snide piece by Mark Prindle from www.markprindle.com entitled “Frantically Ripping Off Everybody They Can”.  The article names the front man Phil “Philthy Animal” Kelsey (“Philthy Animal” is a real person by the way; that is the nickname of Phil Taylorthe longtime drummer for the British hard rock band Motörhead that also features Lemmy).

Sam Gopal formed a new line-up known simply as Sam Gopal that included as vocalist and guitarist Ian Willis, better known as Lemmy; this reorganized band released one album, Escalator in 1968.  Lemmy later played bass guitar for Hawkwind and, in 1975, founded the pounding British heavy metal band called Motörhead
