Missing Persons – Rhyme and Reason (1984):  Dale Bozzio and her husband Terry Bozzio founded the new wave band Missing Persons in Los Angeles in 1980, a year after their marriage.  Terry Bozzio (drums) had previously been in Frank Zappa’s band, and he recruited two other Zappa alumni, Warren Cuccurullo (guitar) and Patrick O’Hearn (bass) – Patrick O’Hearn and his brother Robert O’Hearn later worked on the Martini Ranch album – with the classically trained Chuck Wild (keyboards) rounding out the band.  Though perhaps a bit of a comedown from their sparkling debut album Spring Session M (1982) – the odd title is an anagram of the band name – the sophomore effort by Missing Persons, Rhyme and Reason includes one of their best singles, “Surrender Your Heart”, where Dale Bozzio’s quivery voice works to especially good effect.  The legendary psychedelic art and pop art maestro Peter Max made a video of “Surrender Your Heart” that was in heavy rotation on MTV, and he pulled out all the stops to make a stunning videoscape for the song.
