The Marshall Tucker Band – Long Hard Ride (1976):  The Marshall Tucker Band was one of the leading Southern rock bands of the 1970’s and hailed from Spartanburg, SC.  An old warehouse that they had rented for a rehearsal space had the name “Marshall Tucker” inscribed on the door key.  Without knowing who or what the name represented, the band decided to take that name; Marshall Tucker turned out to be a blind piano tuner from Columbia, SC.  The Marshall Tucker Band formed in 1972 as a sextet; while the band is still active, only lead vocalist Doug Gray is still in the lineup.  Long Hard Ride is the band’s fifth album and is a solid performance with more of a country flavor than most of their music.  Their next album, Carolina Dreams (1977) features their biggest hit song, the Top 15Heard it in a Love Song”.
