Greatest Hits of the Golden Groups album cover

Greatest Hits of the Golden Groups (Various Artists) (1972):  The record label for this album, Columbia House Records was the house label for Columbia Record Club, which I joined more times than I can count over the years.  Reading between the lines, I think my parents joined Columbia Record Club once when we were kids and got a free stereo record player for doing so (usually the “free gift” was your choice of 6 or 8 or 12 free albums from a printed group or individual “stamps” of tiny album cover pictures), which was then shared among us four kids.  As the eldest (around 12 I think), I commandeered the record player regularly, though I also took over the requirement to buy another dozen albums or so from Columbia Record Club to satisfy the requirements of membership, out of the proceeds of my paper route.  Due to the highly generic name, I had a heck of a time tracking this album down and finally determined that the front and back covers were basically the same.  This is an excellent group of songs, with “Silhouettes”, “Tears on My Pillow”, “In the Still of the Night”, “A Teenager in Love”, and “Tequila” being favorite songs for my whole life.
