Donovan – Donovan’s Greatest Hits (1969): This was my first of many Donovan album purchases. There was a nice booklet included with the album; it is long gone now, of course. Donovan was often compared with another 1960’s singer-songwriter, Bob Dylan, but this Scottish troubadour has his own sound and has arguably been even more eclectic in his music. After a few early “flower-power” singles like “Catch the Wind” and “Colours”, Donovan really hit his stride when he presented a stronger and more psychedelic sound with “Sunshine Superman” and its accompanying album with the same name, Sunshine Superman (1966). This greatest-hits album covers the heart of Donovan’s career.
