Perry Como – When You Come to the End of the Day (1958):  While Perry Como in many ways exemplifies how tame mainstream popular music had become by the time that rock and roll arrived in the mid-1950’s, there is no denying his popularity and his skill at delivering a song.  Perry Como is probably best known for his many television shows; NBC first adapted his radio program for experimental television broadcasts beginning in 1948, and his weekly program extended to 1967 under four different names – and that’s not to mention the dozens of Perry Como television specials between 1960 and 1994When You Come to the End of the Day is Perry Como’s second album of inspirational music and includes numerous pop and gospel songs that had often hit the charts, such as “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” and “I May Never Pass This Way Again”.  The album includes some accompaniment by the Ray Charles Singers (with its choral director often called “the other Ray Charles”).
