Buffalo Springfield – Buffalo Springfield (1966):  As one of the early folk-rock bands, Buffalo Springfield was absolutely loaded with talent and helped shape American rock music for decades despite staying together for barely two years.  While their second and more experimental album Buffalo Springfield Again (1967) is even better, Buffalo Springfield includes their sole hit song “For What it’s Worth” that still gets a lot of radio play.  A second Stephen Stills song from the album, “Sit Down I Think I Love You” was a Top 40 hit for the Mojo Men in 1967, and the original version of “Sit Down I Think I Love You” by Buffalo Springfield is well-known for that reason.  Neil Young is one of my favorite rock musicians of them all and is originally from Canada, as is bass guitarist Bruce PalmerNeil Young sings lead on only two of his five compositions for this album, but his gift for songwriting is on full display in songs like “Nowadays Clancy Can’t Even Sing”, “Flying on the Ground Is Wrong”, and “Burned”.  Neil Young and Stephen Stills would later link up again in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; while Richie Furay was a founding member of the pioneering country-rock outfit Poco.
