The Eyes London

Barely Appreciated

THE EYES/LONDON

The Eyes  was a British psychedelic rock band, formed in 1964 and disbanded in 1967.  During 1965 and 1966, they released a number of singles such as “When the Night Falls”, “The Immediate Pleasure” and “I’m Rowed Out”.  The Eyes were Barry Allchin (bass), Brian Corcoran (drums), Phil Heatley (guitar), Chris Lovegrove (lead guitar), and Terry Nolder (vocals).   (More from Wikipedia)

The Eyes date from the earliest days of punk rock in Los Angeles.  Predictably, despite what the liner notes describe as their “all-star lineup”, Wikipedia has nothing about them.  In Allmusic and also in Wikipedia, there is a short article on a mid-1960’s Mod band from London called the Eyes, along with references to several other bands of that name; of the punk band though, there is nothing at all, except that the cover for one of their 45’s is mistakenly included on the Mod band’s Allmusic page.

I have already mentioned the London Mod band called the Eyes in the discussion about the Klubs.

In the early years, the Klubs were a hard-driving rhythm and blues band that performed a lot of covers of Rolling Stones and Pretty Things songs.  They made several trips to London for gigs, including appearances at Tiles and the well-known Marquee.  In one show in July 1966 at Tiles, they were actually the headlining band, with supportive acts the Fleur de Lys and the Eyes (not the same band as the UARB, the Eyes).
