Pat Travers

Pat Travers  (born April 12, 1954) is a Canadian rock guitarist, keyboardist and singer who began his recording career with Polydor Records in the mid-1970s.  Pat Thrall, Nicko McBrain, Clive Edwards, Mick Dyche, Tommy Aldridge, Peter “Mars” Cowling, Barry Dunaway, Jerry Riggs, Gunter Nezhoda, Carmine Appice, and Michael Shrieve are some of the noted musicians who have been members of the Pat Travers Band through the years.  Kirk Hammett of Metallica has cited him as one of his favorite guitar players.  (More from Wikipedia)
 
 
Much as Homer had often done, Ultra was conceived as a touring band that would open for national acts, rather than playing in small clubs, and this was in keeping with their big sound.  Galen Niles has mentioned as examples that they opened for Be-Bop Deluxe and Pat Travers

Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen took “Hot Rod Lincoln to #9 in 1972 (it was the #69 song for the entire year of 1972 in fact according to Billboard).  Other covers include those by the Western swing revival band Asleep at the WheelPat Travers, the punk rock band ALLRoger MillerLes Claypool (for the 2003 album NASCAR: Crank it Up), and Jim Varney (recorded for the soundtrack of the 1993 film The Beverly Hillbillies in which he starred as Jed Clampett).
