GET UP (I FEEL LIKE BEING A) SEX MACHINE

“Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine”  is a song recorded by James Brown with Bobby Byrd on backing vocals.  Released as a two-part single in 1970, it was a no. 2 R&B hit and reached no. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.  In 2004, “Sex Machine” was ranked number 326 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.  (More from Wikipedia)

Many of James Brown’s songs were taken from catchphrases of the day – some that he picked up on, others that he popularized – such as “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World, “Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine”, “Say it Loud – I’m Black and I’m Proud”, “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag”, “Don’t Be a Dropout”, “Night Train”, etc.
