Pebbles, Volume Five (Various Artists) (1979):  Pebbles, Volume Five returns to the garage rock/original punk rock featured on most of the Pebbles albums and has a rather grim cover drawing of the sort that also turns up on later volumes in the series.  Favorites on Pebbles, Volume Five include “Go Away” by the Plague, “It’s a Cryin’ Shame” by the Gentlemen, “Why” by the Dirty Wurds, “Universal Vagrant” by the Merry Dragons, “I Wanna Come Back (from the World of LSD)” by the Fe-Fi-Four Plus Two – cleverly combining the giant cry “Fee-fi-fo-fum!” from Jack and the Beanstalk with the name of the English rock band Unit 4 + 2 that is known for their 1965 hit “Concrete and Clay” – “I Tell No Lies” by the Escapades, “You Need Love” by Danny and the Escorts (the artist is identified as Danny and the Counts on the Pebbles, Volume Five CD), “Yesterday’s Hero” by the Satyrs, and “The Way I Feel” by the 12 A.M..
