Ooh Child (Various Artists) (1972):  The album runs the gamut of African American performances from 50 years ago, featuring everyone from the Stairsteps to the Impressions to Jimi Hendrix to the Isley Brothers (the latter two collaborating on a song called “Testify”).  Several of these artists were unfamiliar to me when I found this album.  The Stairsteps (also known as the 5 Stairsteps) are the featured act and have three songs on the record, including their classic 1970 single “Ooh Child”.  Ooh Child was released on Pickwick Records, a reissue label that often has the goods, though they are known for having somewhat inferior recording quality compared to most albums.
