New Order – Power, Corruption and Lies (1983):  New Order was started by the remaining bandmembers in the legendary British post-punk band Joy Division after the suicide of their bandleader, songwriter and lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980.  Joy Division is famed for their masterpiece and one of my very favorite songs, “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, and both of their albums are rated 5 stars by Allmusic.  New Order went in a different direction musically but were just as innovative – they were among the first rock bands to incorporate underground dance music and electronic textures into their new wave oeuvre.  Power, Corruption and Lies is the second album by New Order; while omitting their hit song “Blue Monday”, also released in 1983, the album takes their dance-rock hybrid into many directions in songs that include “Age of Consent”, “The Village”, “586”, “Your Silent Face”, and “Leave Me Alone”.
