The Moody Blues – This Is the Moody Blues (1974):  The Moody Blues is one of the first rock bands to consistently create cohesive albums as opposed to singles, so This Is the Moody Blues does the band a disservice to some extent.  However, this double album on their own label, Threshold Records – named after their fourth album and my personal favorite, On the Threshold of a Dream (1969) – provides a fine overview of many (though far from all) of the best songs by the Moody Blues, such as “Question”, “Dear Diary”, “Lovely to See You”, “Ride My See Saw”, “Tuesday Afternoon”, “I'm Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)”, “The Story in Your Eyes”, “Nights in White Satin”, and many more.
