Documentary of the March on Washington / Authorized Recording (1964):  Also known as We Shall Overcome!, Documentary of the March on Washington / Authorized Recording presents selections from the music and speeches that took place at the March on Washington that occurred on August 28, 1963.  The record includes the world-famous “I Have a Dream” speech by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., but it is not highlighted in particular on this album; the outsized importance of the speech was evidently not recognized right away.  Musicians who performed at the March and are represented on this album include Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, Odetta, and Marian Anderson.  Besides Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., the album includes all or part of speeches by Roy Wilkins, A. Phillip Randolph, John Lewis, Whitney Young, Walter Reuther, Bayard Rustin, and others.  Portions of a press conference by President John Kennedy regarding the March on Washington are also given.
