Peter Ivers Album album cover

Peter Ivers – Peter Ivers (1976):  Peter Ivers was the host of the cult classic New Wave Theatre, a punk rock showcase that had other assorted weirdness, which aired on Los Angeles public-access television.  The basic cable channel USA Network often added New Wave Theatre as the final segment on its four-hour late-night weekend program Night Flight that aired throughout most of the 1980’s and also featured experimental films, vintage animated shows, and early music videos.  Excerpts from Night Flight programs began showing up on cable television channels in 2018, after a subscription service called Night Flight Plus was launched in 2015.  As far as I know, none of the New Wave Theatre material has been included in the new platforms for Night Flight, although all or almost all of the New Wave Theatre shows are available on YouTubePeter Ivers opened New Wave Theatre with a stream-of-consciousness monologue and then introduced and interviewed the bands.  Peter Ivers’ own music was eccentric, though usually not punk rock.  Having an alternate album name of Peter Peter Ivers – that factoid was my very first contribution to WikipediaPeter Ivers is actually Peter Ivers’ third album and is a mostly straightforward rock album with some frequent left turns that is heavy on harmonica, Peter Ivers’ main instrument.
