Head East – Flat as a Pancake (1975):  Head East is a St. Louis hard rock band known for its intricate harmonies.  Flat as a Pancake, their debut album, features the stellar opening track “Never Been Any Reason” that was a 1970’s radio staple and has many other strong songs.  Subsequent albums did not perform on the charts so well as this one.  Head East is also known for providing some music for the cult classic film by Philip Proctor and Peter Bergman of the Firesign Theatre called J-Men Forever (1979) that was assembled from early science fiction and adventure serials made by Republic Pictures that were provided with alternate dialogue and voiceovers, along with some new intercut sections.  In 1979, vocalist John Schlitt joined the early Christian rock band Petra.
