Four Tops Greatest Hits album cover

The Four Tops – Greatest Hits (1967):  For once, the album name “greatest hits” truly applies.  I remember hearing nearly every one of these songs on the radio back in the day, and the Four Tops was my favorite Motown group.  Lead singer Levi Stubbs had an unmistakable voice that was ideally suited for some of the finest work from the Motown songwriting team of Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Eddie Holland.  Particular favorites of mine on Greatest Hits are “It’s the Same Old Song”, “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)”, “Bernadette”, “Standing in the Shadows of Love”, and “Shake Me, Wake Me (When It’s Over)”.
