A Flock of Seagulls Album album cover

A Flock of Seagulls – A Flock of Seagulls (1981):  Many of the more fashion-conscious new wave bands were often dismissed by critics as being “hair bands”, but A Flock of Seagulls actually includes two hairdressers among the bandmembers, lead vocalist and keyboardist Mike Score and bass guitarist Frank MaudsleyA Flock of Seagulls is their debut album and includes their biggest hit song, “I Ran (So Far Away)”, an MTV favorite and Top 10 radio hit.  “I Ran” was such a smash hit that A Flock of Seagulls is often incorrectly described as a one hit wonder band.  Their music is tailor-made for dance clubs, but several of their songs made the mainstream American record charts, including two other songs on this album, “Telecommunication” and “Space Age Love Song”, plus a later song, “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)”.  A Flock of Seagulls made the charts twice as often in their U.K. homeland as they did in the U.S.  The band is still active and regularly tours.  In 2018, they released their first new album in 20 years, Ascension.
