The Cretones – Thin Red Line (1980): This Los Angeles power-pop band might have enjoyed more success had they selected a less cringe-worthy name. Linda Ronstadt was so taken with Thin Red Line that she included three of these songs – “Mad Love”, “Justine”, and “Cost of Love” – on her “new wave” album that was named after one of them, Mad Love (1980). Cretones guitarist Mark Goldenberg also performed on Mad Love and later served as lead guitarist for Jackson Browne for about 10 years. They only released one more album that I also have, Snap! Snap! (1981), though the Cretones have never officially broken up.
