The Dave Clark Five – The Dave Clark Five’s Greatest (1969):  This is a German compilation album of the best songs by the first English band to topple the Beatles from the American charts.  In all, the Dave Clark Five had 17 Top 40 American hits and performed 18 times on The Ed Sullivan Show, more than any other British band.  “Beatlemania” in America had previously been launched by the Beatles’ appearance on Ed Sullivan on February 9, 1964The Dave Clark Five’s Greatest hits the high points of the DC5’s recordings and then some, having 14 songs, including “Glad All Over”, “Bits and Pieces”, “Having a Wild Weekend”, “I Like it Like That”, and “Over and Over”; but omitting some singles, such as “Because” and “Everybody Get Together”.
