Canned Heat Live album cover

Canned Heat – Live (1985):  This is a bootleg recording (also known as an unofficial release), made in the Netherlands.  I have numerous bootleg albums in my collection, particularly of Bob Dylan records; unlike pirated recordings (which are illegal copies of major-label releases), bootleg albums collect music that has never been officially released.  Live is a concert performance (of uncertain date) mostly of blues classics by one of the premier American blues-rock bands of the 1960’s; Canned Heat appeared at Monterey Pop and at Woodstock and scattered a few hit songs, and their music was featured in a 2020 GEICO motorcycle insurance ad.  Genuine bluesmen are often impatient with white bands that attempt to play blues music, but Canned Heat and John Lee Hooker discovered in a chance meeting that they were fans of each other’s work, which led to a collaborative double-album called Hooker ’n Heat  (1971).
