Blackfoot – Strikes (1979): Blackfoot is a Southern rock/hard rock band led by Rick Medlocke, whose Native American heritage is reflected in their name. They released several well-crafted albums in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. As an added dimension to the band, Rick Medlocke’s grandfather is a bluegrass musician named Shorty Medlocke; and he contributed regularly to their albums, as both a musician and a songwriter. Strikes is their third and most successful album, with “Train, Train” (written by Shorty Medlocke) and “Highway Song” being rock radio hits.
