Yolanda Saldívar  (born September 19, 1960) is an American woman who was convicted of murdering Tejano singer Selena on March 31, 1995, at the Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She will be eligible for parole on March 30, 2025.  (More from Wikipedia)
 
 

Ironically, Tejano was largely unknown to the larger American culture until the murder of “the Queen of Tejano” Selena in 1995 by the former president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldívar.  In 1997Warner Bros. released a theatrical film based on her life called Selena that launched the career of one of the most prominent Hispanic Americans of our time, Jennifer Lopez
