Somebody to Love

SOMEBODY TO LOVE

“Somebody to Love”   is a rock song that was written by Darby Slick.  It was originally recorded by The Great Society, and later by Jefferson Airplane.  Rolling Stone magazine ranked Jefferson Airplane’s version No. 274 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.  (More from Wikipedia)

Frequent Jefferson Airplane lead singer Grace Slick was not an original bandmember; Slick was previously in another San Francisco band called the Great Society.  In 1967Grace Slick joined Jefferson Airplane and brought with her the Darby Slick song “Somebody to Love” and her own song White Rabbit.  They became her new band’s biggest hit songs, with both reaching the Top Ten, and she became the most prominent member of the group.
