Skaterdater  is a 1965 American short film.  It was produced by Marshal Backlar, and written and directed by Noel Black and was the winner of the Palme d’Or for Best Short Film at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival.  It was also nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Short Subject category.  The film tells a story with no dialogue.  The surf rock-esque soundtrack was composed by Mike Curb and Nick Venet with Davie Allan and the Arrows playing “Skaterdater Rock”.  It was the first film on skateboarding.  (More from Wikipedia)
