Sha Na Na

SHA NA NA

Sha Na Na  is a syndicated television variety series that ran from 1977-81 for a total of 97 episodes, hosted by the popular rock & roll/comedy group of the same name.  The show was produced by Pierre Cossette and originally distributed by the Lexington Broadcast Services Company.  The show featured the group performing hits from the 1950s and 1960s along with comedy skits along the show’s nostalgic theme but with a contemporary twist, with performances from that era’s well-known acts as well as popular acts of the 1970s.  (More from Wikipedia)

Sha Na Na has had a long career, including a syndicated television show called Sha Na Na from 1977 to 1981 (roughly 10 years after their appearance at Woodstock). Wikipedia lists dozens of albums in the band’s discography. The gonzo antics of the best known member of the band, Jon “Bowzer” Bauman were probably the key to the band’s (and the show’s) success. Bowzer did not appear at Woodstock but was in Sha Na Na from 1970 to 1983.
