Nervösen Deutschen

Barely Appreciated

NERVÖSEN DEUTSCHEN

Nervous Germans  (German: Nervösen Deutschen) were a German new wave rock band from the early 1980s.  Formed in 1980, in 1981 they released their debut album Nervösen Deutschen (English release:  Desolation Zone 1982).  Their second album, Summer of Love (1983) was also their last; they disbanded on 1 July 1984 in the aftermath of a concert in Linnich (with Mitch Ryder).  (More from Wikipedia)

One more German connection, and then I’ll move on:  About a year ago, I found another great German New Wave album from 1982 by Nervösen Deutschen (“Nervous Germans”), called Desolation Zone (or Nervous Germans).  As with Ja Ja Jathe cover was irresistible.  The first song on Side 2 is “Germans Can’t Rock ’n’ Roll” – and is that ever not at all true!
