KEANU REEVES

Keanu Reeves  (born September 2, 1964) is a Canadian actor, director, producer, musician, and author.  Reeves is most well known for his acting career, beginning in 1985 and spanning for more than three decades.  He gained fame for his starring role performances in several blockbuster films including comedies from the Bill and Ted franchise (1989-1991), action thrillers Point Break (1991) and Speed (1994), and the science fiction-action trilogy The Matrix (1999-2003).  He has also appeared in several dramatic films such as Dangerous Liaisons (1988), My Own Private Idaho (1991), and Little Buddha (1993).  One New York Times critic praised Reeves’ versatility, saying that he “displays considerable discipline and range.  He moves easily between the buttoned-down demeanor that suits a police procedural story and the loose-jointed manner of his comic roles.”  (More from Wikipedia)

The UARA this month is a wonderful singer-songwriter named Thomas Anderson.  His is not exactly an uncommon name; you might remember Thomas Anderson as being the name of the Keanu Reeves character in The Matrix (along with “Neo” of course) and also Tom Anderson as one of the grown-up foils for the cartoon characters Beavis and Butt-head (though in each case, they go more often by the name “Mr. Anderson”).

The follow-up single by the B-52’s toRock Lobsterwas “Private Idaho”; both were dance club hits though neither made a major impact on the Billboard Hot 100. The latter song inspired the title of the River Phoenix/Keanu Reeves indie film, My Own Private Idaho that was directed by Gus Van Sant.
