JEAN CARN
Jean Carn, also spelled Jean Carne (born Sarah Jean Perkins on March 15, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States) is an American jazz and pop singer. In mid career, she added a final ‘e’ to her name, reportedly under the advice of a numerologist. Carn is a vocalist credited with a five octave vocal range. She is recognized for her unique vocal ability and has proven herself to be a vocalist of unlimited depth and dimension. She began her recording career with her then-husband, pianist Doug Carn, for Black Jazz Records. (More from Wikipedia)

The centerpiece of the album is the club track ‘Itching for Love’, which is presented here in both a long vocal and dub version – but there’s actually some great mellow tracks on the record that we like even more – nice tunes that hit a midtempo or slower groove, done with a confident female vocal style that sounds a bit like later Jean Carn.
