Hank Williams III

HANK WILLIAMS III

Shelton Hank Williams, also known as Hank Williams III and Hank 3  (born December 12, 1972), is an American musician, singer and multi-instrumentalist.  In addition to his honky tonk recordings, Williams' style alternates between country, punk rock and metal.  He is the principal member of the punk metal band Assjack, the drummer for the Southern hardcore punk band Arson Anthem, and was the bassist for Pantera singer Phil Anselmo's band Superjoint Ritual.  He has released seven studio albums, including five for Curb Records.  Williams is the grandson of Hank Williams, Sr., son of Hank Williams, Jr., and the half-brother of Holly Williams.  (More from Wikipedia)

I was starting to listen to more country music myself by the late 1970's; I was happily discovering country's roots such as the Carter Family and Hank Williams Sr., and also a lot of the "outlaw country" crowd like Willie NelsonWaylon Jennings and David Allan Coe.  Many of the earliest alt-country artists also caught my ear (before anyone was even using the term), like Randy TravisLyle Lovettk.d. lang and Hank Williams III; and some were simply country-flavored rock bands such as the Georgia Satellites and the Kentucky Headhunters
