THE EYES

Only a handful of the UARB’s that I have written about have so many current and former bandmembers that have individual Wikipedia articles, even though there is none on the band Trillion itself.  The only ones I can think of are the Rip Chords (July 2011) and the Eyes (July 2010).

In the early years, the Klubs were a hard-driving rhythm and blues band that performed a lot of covers of Rolling Stones and Pretty Things songs.  They made several trips to London for gigs, including appearances at Tiles and the well-known Marquee.  In one show in July 1966 at Tiles, they were actually the headlining band, with supportive acts the Fleur de Lys and the Eyes (not the same band as the UARB, the Eyes).

I have written already of several of the first-wave punk rock bands that were formed in the wake of the proto-punk bands that I wrote about in my last post:  the Stoogesthe Velvet UndergroundNew York Dollsthe Modern LoversMC5, and others.  In fact, one of my early UARB’s was the Eyes; they were one of the first punk bands in Los Angeles and included in their line-up future stars Charlotte Caffey of the Go-Go’s and DJ Bonebrake of X
