Edgar Winter

EDGAR WINTER

Edgar Winter  (born December 28, 1946) is an American rock and blues musician.  He is known for being a multi-instrumentalist — keyboardist, guitarist, saxophonist and percussionist — as well as a singer.  His success peaked in the 1970's with his band, The Edgar Winter Group, and their popular songs "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride".   (More from Wikipedia)

Rick Zehringer of the McCoys ("Hang on Sloopy") later changed his name to Rick Derringer, and he recorded and toured extensively with Johnny Winter and his brother, Edgar Winter.  Rick Derringer had his own one-hit wonder experience in 1973 with his song "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" (Johnny Winter had previously covered "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" a few years earlier).
