BOY SCOUT HANDBOOK

The Boy Scout Handbook  is the official handbook of the Boy Scouts of America.  It is a descendant of Baden-Powell’s original handbook, Scouting for Boys, which has been the basis for Scout handbooks in many countries, with some variations to the text of the book depending on each country’s codes and customs.   (More from Wikipedia)

The cover of the Oingo Boingo album Only a Lad is a real hoot; it is a heavily redecorated Norman Rockwell painting that was used as the cover shot for one edition of the Boy Scout Handbook.  The original was drawn on a completely white background, so that is why the “jaunty lad” (as National Geographic magazine described the original painting) is up in the clouds in Oingo Boingo’s reimagining.
