1,039/SMOOTHED OUT SLAPPY HOURS

1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours  is a collection of early recordings by American punk rock band Green Day, released on October 1, 1991 by Lookout Records.  Often referred to as the band's debut album, the compilation combines the band's actual debut 39/Smooth and its first two extended plays Slappy and 1,000 Hours, which are all currently out of print.  The album has been certified Gold in the U.S. by the RIAA, and according to Nielsen SoundScan, it has sold 632,000 copies in the U.S. as of August 2010.  (More from Wikipedia)

In early 1990, the label released Green Day’s first full album, 39/Smooth, with two other EP’s following later in the year, Slappy and Sweet Children; the latter disc features early recordings by Sweet Children for another label, Skene! Records. The following year, Lookout! Records combined the band’s previous releases (except Sweet Children) as 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Later that year saw the release of Green Day’s second album, Kerplunk, which sold 50,000 copies.
